THE BIG IDEA

As the moon cycle of Av comes to a close, take time to strengthen your ability to hold the fullness of life. Just as this moon carries the saddest day (9 of av) and the happiest day (tu b’av ) our lives constantly demand we do the same.

This week’s Torah Omens places us between two mountains and invites us to hold the fullness of existence. See before you one mountain filled with blessing and goodness, the other with curses and badness. Practice holding both the good and bad of any situation or choice in your awareness simultaneously, seeing both sides, and noticing where your attention is pulled. Take time to assess the health of your emotional body, how well are you able to hold the paradoxes of life and move with ease between different emotional states?

Be sure to internalize the guidance Moshe continues to offer, giving us endless hints for spiritual alignment and the potential for holiness in all you do; what you eat, how you earn and donate money, how you employ, enslave and liberate others, how you honor divinity and celebrate divine time.

As we prepare to step into the new moon of Elul, do your best to see all the full options of life and choose to be blessed.

CURB YOUR CURIOSITY

Just a friendly reminder from Moses for those of us that feel so secure in our attachment to the divine oneness that we begin wondering about other modalities of worship.

Beware of being lured into their ways after they have been wiped out before you! Do not inquire about their gods, saying, “How did those nations worship their gods? I too will follow those practices.”

Don’t do it. Stay focused. ONE is enough.
