THE BIG IDEA
If you identify as a jew, this week’s torah energy invites you to start exploring your identity as a part of a larger spiritual collective.
This week we see the Creator of the Universe following through — The blessing God gave Abraham and Sarah actually comes true to such an extent that their descendants, now living in Egypt, had so many children that the King of Egypt felt the need to imposed harsh measures of population control upon them.
We also learn that the Creator of the Universe is committed to keeping the covenant and maintaining an ongoing committed relationship with the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob— hearing their cries of pain and choosing to respond.
And finally, this week, we meet our reluctant hero, God appointed savior, future first leader of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’s descendants, and greatest teacher of all time – Moshe, the man who models a new form of relationship with the divine.
Take time this weekend to consider what it means to be part of ‘The nation of Israel’ and not just an individual on a personal enlightenment journey. Unlike Abraham who individually heard the call, Moshe, like us, is born into an established relationship with the Oneness. Note his unprecedented self-esteem in both his actions and words.
Feel the gift of having a teacher- not just a father figure (even though he was a father), not some mythic hero (even though he was heroic), but a teacher like Moshe that shows us how to speak with the divine, and be in this complicated nation, and with integrity.
