THE BIG IDEA

According to this week’s torah energy (in Israel) this is a favorable time to meditate on the source of blessing and curses. The Jewish people as a whole, and Israel in particular, have been going through a pretty rough time - and it is essential that we get clear on how the spiritual mechanisms work. 

In Parshat Balak we see a hater of Israel do everything he can to curse the Isrealites in the desert - and while his plan to curse the Israelites fails to produce anything but explicit blessings (you cannot curse those who are blessed by G-d) –  in the same weekly energy we see how the behavior of the Israelite men invokes G-d’s rage and pulls down a plague that kills 24,000 men. 

This week is a good time to remember that there is no outside curse or negativity that can effect the fate of the jewish people - it is our choices and behaviors and denial of the divine that secure our fate.
