THE BIG IDEA

The month of Tammuz is a valuable time to work on the way you see things. With two eyes comes two ways of seeing; you can see with compassion or critique – you have a good eye and a critical eye.

According to the Kedushat Levi, Moses was punished for seeing the nation with a critical eye. He needed to argue for the merits of the Jewish nation and to always speak with love. In essence, as a leader, he needed two good eyes – not to ignore their complaining and challenges, but to hold them in love despite it all.

Take time this shabbat to review the way you see, to see which eye is stronger, and how to begin to see more clearly – with two good eyes. And remember…the way we see, is the way we are seen.
