Pay Attention

According to the Torah Omens this week is an excellent time to deepen your practice of surrender.

Notice any internal adjustments you need to hold the blessing of your life. Pay Attention to the physical and emotional postures necessary to maintain the sense of growth and blessing. Keep the technical laws, stay humble, remember your past, admit to your mistakes, access your fear, and embody love.

In the last weeks of summer, when life is good, and everything feels fine, remember to slow down.

Relax your neck, and cut open your heart.

Stay humble.

Stay focused.

Continue to soften.

The new moon of Elul is approaching.

CHANNELS OF ACCESS

This week Moses offers guidance to help stay in constant connection with the Source Energy of the Universe. These channels were created out of Moses’ experience working with a ceaselessly defiant people.

Moses reminds readers of the resistance to God that has spiritually defined us. Moses urges us to soften and accept Spiritual Law with our entire being, warning of the empty abyss that can come with success and abundance, and the destruction that can follow.

Spiritual laws are not merely laws of action, they are laws of the heart. Find your sense of surrender and there you will find the blessing of the good in the world.

Stay humble.

Have awe.

Remember Egypt.

Work on your stiff neck and open your heart.

Find the love and feel blessed.

Stay focused.

Don’t think it was you.

Remember where you come from, what it felt like as an outsider.

Take care of each other.

Keep spiritual law.

and again.

Remember Egypt. Find fear, find love. Give everything. Remember it wasn’t you or your merits. Remember the golden calf and the tablets and all Moses did for you. Remember Aaron too. Remember God’s laws when you are successful and happy. Don’t get lost. If you follow in these ways you will be blessed, and if you don’t you will feel the negative karmic consequences.

PRACTICE EXERCISES

Part 1: Ask yourself questions.

Do you believe in the God that took his people from Egypt?

Can you access that cosmic might in your own life?

Do you believe you are blessed?

Can you see how resistant and defiant you have been until this day?

Can you sense into your fear for the divine?

Do you see karmic consequences for positive and negative actions?

Can you find the love and allow it to run through your entire being?

Can you open your heart and soften your neck?

Part 2: Make affirmative statements.

I believe in the God that took his people from Egypt.

I feel access to that cosmic might in my own life.

I believe I am blessed to carry the light.

I can see how stubborn I can be and how much I hate rules and being told what to do.

I am terrified of the power of the creator.

I see karmic consequences for my positive and negative actions in the world.

I open my heart to the divine energy and flow of the universe.

** continue to ask questions and then try the same question as an affirmative statement. Notice how each feels in the body.

BONUS Part 3: Take action

Commit to an additional aspect of spiritual law in your life. It could be to increase your acts of prayer, charity, kindness to strangers, the study of torah or keeping shabbat.

Whatever it is, find your act of active surrender and bring the purpose of these affirmations into being.
