Yitro
THE BIG IDEA
There is no way to overemphasize the significance of this week’s energy.
Be sure to check in on your ethical alignment. Notice the places the ten spiritual principles, maintained and practiced until today, are imprinted on you. This Friday night and Shabbat Day is a favorable time to pray for the mastery of karmic consequence, and to re-establish your ancient access points.
In contrast to the world of indigenous spiritual practices, (the world of Yitro; the Shaman/Priest of the region, and Moses’ father in law) the descends of Jacob/Israel are imprinted directly with a clear, written, accessible spiritual code. Yitro is a reminder that the social hierarchical systems of spiritual governance are not intrinsic to our spiritual form, or part of Moses’ core teachings. However necessary they are until we activate the intended vision of being a kingdom of priests, and holy nation.
This weekend is a wonderful time to claim your spiritual potential, and re-activate your soul’s cosmic alignment.
EXERCISING SPIRITUAL LAW
Before you begin the meditation, read the list of ten spiritual principles, paying special attention to the thoughts they trigger and awaken.
This exercise requires some familiarity with these principles, so continue to read them until some new thoughts awaken.
1) I יהוה am your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage…
2) You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image, or any likeness of what is in the heavens above, or on the earth below, or in the waters under the earth….
3) You shall not swear falsely by the name of your God יהוה….
4) Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy….
5) Honor your father and your mother, that you may long endure on the land that your God יהוה is assigning to you.
6) You shall not murder.
7) You shall not commit adultery.
8) You shall not steal.
9) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10) You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, wife, or male or female slave, or ox or ass, or anything that is your neighbor’s.
Let the power of the social, ethical and historical implications wash over you.
Continue to cycle through them internally, until you are familiar with the feeling of each. Pull that awareness into your body’s experience and deepen it.
With your eyes closed, position yourself at the base of the mountain and keep cycling through the commandments internally. Feel your spine lengthen, breathe into your outermost extremities. Cycle through the 10 principles noticing your thoughts and sensations. Allow your imagination to wander back thousands of years to Mount Sinai itself. See if anything within you awakens. Hear the thunder, see the lighting, feel the mountain shaking in front of you.
See how much of that original imprinting you can recall. Re-establish your connection to the Source, or feel into it for the first time.
