THE BIG IDEA
Take advantage of the incredible light that comes into the world with the child born to Abraham and Sarah, the first jewish baby on planet earth. Baby Yizchak was a light so pure and bright just the thought of him produced laughter in his father Abraham, his mother Sarah, and anyone that heard the news about him once he was born.
Take time to consider the nature of the laughter he embodied with his G-d given name, and the awe that his existence inspired. Yitzchak was an energy so aligned he walked calmly to his own potential death hand and hand with his father.
This Shabbat try your best to access the laughter that comes when you really understand that the Creator can actually do anything, and it is all unfolding in divine time - no matter how desperately we want certain things. If you are a descendant of Abraham and Sarah, the light of that laughter is deep within your cells, and is the place from which we all emerge.
Contrast this laughter to that of Yitzchak’s stepbrother, Yishmael, whose form of laughter was so dark and menacing he needed to be cast out from the household.
All laughter is not equal, or welcome. It is only the laughter that comes from faith, from the awareness and awe of the Creator, and infinitely powerful Infinite One. And given what we know about the divine…it’s almost funny that we have a hard time always being happy — all we need to do is remember, when walking with faith ANYTHING is possible.
