The Story

THE BIG IDEA

Working through any lingering anxiety or resentments?

According to the Torah Omens this is the ideal time to tap into your inner Isaac, the archetypical masculine embodiment of presence. Channel the man that asks direct questions, never seemingly holds a grudge or intentionally withholds, (even to the son that just deceived him moments earlier) and remains utterly present with every circumstance.

Initiate yourself into the spiritual understanding that comes when your own father raises a sword over your head with the intention to kill you (for God).

Then step back into your life as Isaac did. Notice the added awareness that comes when you know anything can change at the last moment.

For a bonus - note the two shadow energies that emerged from Isaac; one child anxious for the blessed position, and the other angry enough to kill.  The scars of trauma might not show up immediately, they might only appear in future generations. (a good motivation to do the inner work without passing it on).

INNER INVESTIGATION

Life or legacy?

Feel your way through the lives of each of these characters, specifically Isaac, whom “the story” is about. Notice if you find yourself more drawn to the aspects of Isaac’s life, primarily as a well digger, or the dramatic unfolding of blessing one son to rule over the other.

Are you an Isaac who moves through his life carrying no grudges?

Are you like Jacob who actively changes his fate?

Are you like Esau who vows to avenge after feeling wronged?

Or are you Rebecca who assumes the cosmic debt of her son in order to fulfill her vision?

*Note — never once in the history the interpretation (that has not been historically supportive of women), has Rebecca been criticized for encouraging her son Jacob to “steal” the blessing.

Feel your way through each character. Inhabit their life and shadow aspects, so you don’t need to live it through your own.

SOMATIC EXERCISE

In order to help shift out of any Esau energy or lingering resentments, try this exercise.

Before you go to sleep, ask to forgive from anyone who wronged you in this lifetime, or any past lifetimes.

As you fall asleep, imagine a circle of light coming around you.

See yourself surrounded by angels on all sides that are helping carry off any resentments that are stuck within your system.

Let them keep clearing you until you feel as light as air. Allow yourself, now air, to merge with the light and the angels around you.

Wake up knowing yourself as connected to a consciousness larger then any human’s insults or wounds.
