THE BIG IDEA

If you need help taking these Days of Awe seriously - try tapping into this week’s Torah Energy. After a beautiful and complex song, Moses reminds us that the torah isn’t just a bunch of empty words… it’s our very life.

And so, as you prepare yourself to step into the Day of Atonement, the highest day of the spiritual cycle - try to hold Moses’ simple and final transmission dear. As you pray to be inscribed in the Book of Life - assure your soul that by consciously tapping into the tremendously powerful energy of the day you are attaching yourself to a notion of “Life” that is above the weight and dread of this world.

Use this Shabbat, the remaining time before Yom Kippur, and the Vidui (confessions) throughout the day itself, to slough off your attachment to any behaviors or thought forms that attach you to anything that isn’t life affirming. Imagine all the ways you have been told by others, or learned to tell yourself you are “bad” and see those thoughts and behaviours attached to those thoughts like a goat being marched off into the desert and pushed off a cliff - smashed to pieces.

Allow Yom Kippur to be the most powerful day of your year. Allow yourself to access and feel  the joyous gift of renewal and cleansing it is intended to be - and bask in the flowing light of forgiveness.

Wishing everyone a Shabbat Shalom and a year inscribed in the Book of The Good Life.
