THE BIG IDEA

Happy Elul everyone!

Time to awaken your spiritual self, Rosh Ha’Shanna is less than a month away.

Prepare by creating a prayer vision for yourself; bring your life goals into conscious awareness, imagine a (joy filled) plan of unfolding, look back and make any necessary adjustments. This is a favorable time to reach out to friends and relatives, offer overdue apologies, try to mend hurt feelings, settle outstanding debts, and act charitable. Take advantage of the proximity of divine inspiration during this time of the year when the Source Essence is the closest, and remember to ask for inner guidance.

The Torah Omens urge us to include systems of self and social governance in our personal prayer vision, to chase righteousness after righteousness, and demand spiritually aligned political leaders to govern us.

You don’t need a soothsayer, or a magician to tell you what is coming, invite your inner prophet to speak. And if the voice you are hearing is just ego, fear not, the vision won’t come true.

So do you best to seek the purest, clearest, most authentic connection, and pray for gentle adjustments when your goals, focus and prayers are off.

EXCERCISE

According to Torah one witness is not enough to condemn a person to death, it must be 2 or more.

And so, in order to conduct a proper self assessment and evaluate yourself this year, you need to both witness yourself AND include the witnessing of others.

PART 1: WITNESS YOURSELF

Take a deep breath

Center yourself

Scan your body using your breath

Put a hand on your heart, and the other on your belly.

Continue to breathe.

From this flowing place, begin to imagine yourself as a bright pulsing energy. See the energy pulsing in your toes moving its way up up your legs, pelvis, spine, neck, head, and back down over your face into your heart. Notice any blockages or tensions, breathe into those places.

Once your energy feels clear, and your body feels radiant, imagine broadcasting this energy into the world. Begin sending it to people you love. Notice the people and places you like sending it and any places you avoid— places your energy is blocked or weak.

What energy is being returned in your direction, where does the source come from?

Which people come up when you broadcast energy.

Notice what sources offer it back to you. Notice your sources of positive energy. And notice your sources of negative or lost energy.

Witness yourself.

Continue to visualize where the energy is flowing freely, where it is blocked, where it is cut off entirely, and most importantly, where it can be repaired, healed and adjusted.

Work to consciously adjust your internal flow.

PART 2: BE WITNESSED

Once you have identified your inner map of connections, it is time to actually reach out in the real world. If a positive connection is weak, broken or overwhelmed, ask what can you do to correct the flow of positive energy.

Apologize to anyone you overwhelmed, pushed away, or hurt (consciously or unconsciously). Give feedback to anyone that hurt you, and try to resolve the grudges you carry (removing blocked energy from your life). And pray for the missing or absent spaces in your life to be filled with unconditional presence and love.

Settle any outstanding debts and payback your loans.

Invite closure to places that no longer flow.

Witness yourself, and allow yourself to be witnessed.

And remember, no single person counts as a reliable witness, so before you judge yourself, or stand before judgement, give yourself a chance to try another perspective. See how the other person feels. Listen to their perspective. And keep breathing.

This is the time the energy of closeness is most accessible. Ask the Source Energy to help you adjust.

Maximize your life’s positive potential.

Good luck and may the Source be with you!
