In the Desert

THE BIG IDEA

This week carries the lower energies of assertion. Take time to examine your foundational forces and the ways you engage the world.  Take special notice of the ways you express (and contain) your sexual energy in both your daily interactions and intimate relationships.

We are six weeks into our spiritual process, deep in the desert, only a week away from the download of divine consciousness at Sinai (celebrated next Thursday night on the festival of Shavuot).

Stand and be counted. Affirm the value of your place in the spiritual body and holy collective. Feel yourself in a state of acceptance and love.

The power of Mount Sinai is ahead of us, emanating in the distance. Draw the consciousness of that light into your most primal instincts and places. Let it overtake your senses and clear you from hesitation, negativity, ambivalence and doubt.

Jerusalem Day adds to the energy, so expect increased intensity on Thursday and Friday.

PREPARING FOR AN INFUSION of LIGHT

Try this visualization exercise to prepare for the coming spiritual occasion:

Find a quiet space to meditate.

Close your eyes, begin to regulate your breathing in a rhythmic pattern (6 count in, 6 count out), and allow yourself to relax into your body completely.

From this relaxed place, imagine yourself to be walking in the desert.

Feel the vulnerability of the wide open empty space, and the harshness of the desert.

Allow yourself to feel as cared for as the Israelites in the desert; imagine when you are hungry you eat manna (magical angel food that takes whatever form you like), there is water whenever you need it, you are constantly protected from the elements by a cloud covering, and your clothes don’t get dirty or tear.

Experience this desert as if it were the experience of God’s love, completely protected and cared for in the most vulnerable of places. Take time to settle into that feeling.

Off in the distance, you might start to notice a mountain.

Feel yourself, and your entire tribe are being guided towards it.

Focus on the mountain. You aren’t quite there yet, but you can begin to feel it’s energy pulse through your body.

Approach this mountain in the desert with curiosity and wonder.

You might imagine it beginning to blossom and flower….allow your own imagination to flow.

Prepare yourself to receive your next wave of great light. Take yourself seriously, as a vessel that can hold and contain light, and use this “light” aka consciousness aka torah to “be a light” to be consciousness expressing itself clearly in the world.
