Idiot Energy.
THE BIG IDEA
The Torah Omens encourage us to meditate on the idiot energy within and amongst us.
Idiot energy is the archetypal form of energy that blocks our spiritual alignment and potential for peaceful co-existence. This week’s idiot energy is represented by people that think they are better than, smarter than, or more entitled to, the energy of challenging others authority directly or in a subversive way. (ie. putting someone down for a laugh)
Pay special attention to any idiot energy around you this week. How do you attract it? How do you pass it on to others?
Examine the nature of your own inner idiot, the inside voice that undermines your deep inner knowing. Take time to listen to that voice, notice the way it effects your decision making, self evaluation abilities, and your thoughts about others.
Resist the urge to engage idiot energy directly, instead, if and when it appears, drop a Moses, Fall on your face, go within, and try to locate any places you might be mis-asserting ego as a way to compensate for a wounded and insecure place in yourself.
Breathe in the healing essence of Aaron’s ancient offering and ask and find forgiveness for those idiot parts of yourself, and our world.
Take time to recommit to your practice of bringing light into the world through an aligned spiritual practice. And allow yourself to receive the blessing in your ability to be renewed by greater awareness.
DEEPER DIVE
This week, Korach, (the name of Moses’ first Israelite challenger) sees the first spiritual dispute within the tribe. Korach, and Datan and Aviran and their men, challenge Moses and Aaron’s spiritual role amongst the nation, claiming, “ the entire nation is holy, why do you raise yourself above us?”

Basically, when approached with this statement of truth (it is true what they say, they are, in fact, all part of a holy nation) Moses immediately falls on his face, and hands the dispute over to God.
To resolve this dispute Moses leaves open the possibility of his own disgrace. He proceeds without trying to defend his ego, calling in God directly, and placing the validity of his own authority on the line. If he is in the wrong, may everyone see it immediately. However, if he is right, may that also be made clear as day. At every moment we see Moses is willing to let go of his role, should that be asked of him. And while the outcome was the earth swallowing living men, and their houses, and all their belongings, and anyone that touched them at the time. And the sending of a fire to eat the 250 challenger priests and their offerings. Moses was just as ready to be removed from power that day if he was misguided.
And the fear of the supernatural curse spread, with the nation now believing that God’s earth would swallow them too.
Which is understandable, but not if you are God, and all you want is for people to understand there is no return to the unconscious, they must now walk in holy alignment through all time.
INNER WORK GUIDE
What part of you wants to be the star?
Or are you a cosmic prankster that knows how to mock everyone? Be honest. What part of you thinks it knows something better than others? Try to contemplate that question without any self criticism or judgement. What thoughts do you have about leadership that are better than what exists right now?
Take a few moments to meditate each day this week and recommit yourself to a truth larger than your single self.
Any time idiot energy interrupts you, imagine it to be either swallowed by the earth, or taken by a plague. This is an excellent time to release idiot energy from your body, mind and soul.
If the meditation gets too overwhelming light some sage and feel a wave of clearing and forgiveness wash over you, as if Aaron was passing by you with the K’toret.
