I Appeared

THE BIG IDEA‘

Do you suffer from ‘Pharaoh heart syndrome’?

A heart that says ‘yes’ when it is scared or overwhelmed, and quickly flips to a ‘no’ when the danger has passed, and the feeling of security returns.

According to the Torah Omens it is a good time to notice how quickly you shift from faith to disbelief, and the repercussions of that vacillation.

This weekend, as you step into the new moon or the New Year, bless yourself with the power to break cycles of abuse that affect your life and our world. Access the new layer of divinity that appeared this week. The energy of masculine assertion that remembers its oaths and fulfills its promises.

Align yourself with this layer of God that relents as soon as an agreement is made, and escalates when that agreement is violated. The God that has a clear plan, that listens to his prophet (even when he doesn’t agree), and works with a logic that is near impossible to decode.

Why ‘harden Pharaoh’s heart’ if you want to get the people out?

Why make ‘your people’ suffer?

And while no one has ever answered the questions of ‘why’ in a deeply satisfying way, the Torah does offer the formula for getting free.

Additional behavior tendencies you might want to examine this week; being ’too exhausted’ to care, feeling plagued by others decisions (and indecision), being a direct channel for divine change in the world, making this an excellent time to welcome personal liberation from any unconscious and toxic patterns.

Self-Awareness EXERCISE

After 2 years of a pandemic, the idea of a plague overtaking reality is suddenly not as hard to imagine. It is also less hard to imagine how we react when the danger feels immediate, and how we act when we feel the danger has passed.

Take time this week to chart your own behaviors during this enduring global health crisis. Look at your use and attitude toward the use of gloves, masks, social distancing, and vaccines, as well as your relationship to faith — faith in your government to protect it’s society, faith in science to perform, faith in fellow humans to abide, faith in media to report, faith in God to respond. How were each of these areas of faith affected during this ‘plague’?

Note any patterns in your behavior or attitudes.

Get especially curious about places you, and the world around you might be displaying ‘Pharaoh Heart Syndrome’ and notice the effect of the yes/no, yes/no, yes/no has on your mental state and sense of general wellbeing. Note places you might use this energy of divine liberation to deliver you into a higher state of consciousness.

EXERCISE #2

Where in your life are you too exhausted to care?

This week starts off a story with God revealing the force of his eternal commitment to his people, and they were too overworked and exhausted to care.

Take some time this weekend to examine places in your life that you are beyond the ability to hear any news — good or bad. Note any pandemic fatigue or places of stress that block you from even engaging with life, or finding the energy to connect with yourself, others, or the divine.

Make a list of things that you don’t care about anymore (because of exhaustion).

In the coming weeks, challenge yourself to carve out at least one solid hour a week to connect with the idea of divine protection, presence, or whatever essence you have felt has been pounded out of your life’s experience.

Prepare yourself some food. Find a quiet room. And allow yourself to experience the feeling of the divine coming in to bless your life, even for one hour.

P.S. — I highly recommend starting at sunset on Friday night.

Wishing everyone a SHABBAT SHALOM! Happy New Moon, Happy New Year, and Happy New Day.
