THE BIG IDEA
From a narrative perspective, this is a disorienting time in Torah consciousness. After revelation at Sinai, the timeline gets a little murky. The sequence of events between the Ten Commandments and the building of the Mishkan(Tent of the Divine) have been debated by interpreters across time –so don’t be surprised if you are feeling unsettled in your own life –or that the entire country of Israel is feeling completely disoriented right now.
Instead, focus your attention on the energy of the moment— the practice of giving from your heart. See the spiritual potential within material reality. Direct any feelings of longing into a yearning for divinity to dwell amongst the jewish people (in a revealed way). Throughout the Exodus story the only time that the Hebrew slaves didn’t complain was when they were donating and building the Mishkan (The Tent of the Divine).
So, as we enter the moon of Adar, the month of transformation through Joy and Laughter, do your best to identify yourself as a builder and contributor — to put yourself in creative, forward moving, active energy — and most importantly to see the value of your laughter and joy as an essential contribution in re-building a holy reality.
