Good Grief

THE BIG IDEA

This week’s torah energy invites you to take a deep look at the way you process loss.

Does this period of war and untimely deaths fill you with desperation and the impulse to fight and protest - the way the Israelites responded to the death of Miriam in the desert?

Or do you allow yourself the time to mourn and feel the sadness - the way the people mourned the death of Aaron by crying for 30 days?

Take time this weekend to notice your own grief process, and be mindful of the ways the protest energy triggers you — Moses literally lost his chance to enter the holy land by directly responding to it (and that was Moses!) so be very cautious before engaging with collective expressions of anger and discontent.

This Shabbat, lets all do our best to remember that when our ancestors were able to mourn together and then, unified,  reach out in faith and ask God for help - they were able to pull down supernatural military power and defeat their enemies with ease.  Exactly the spiritual formula we all need to activate in this moment.
