For the record

THE BIG IDEA

In jewish history, as in life,  it can be all too easy to overlook the sweeter moments. For example, at the end of the book of Sh’mot (Exodus), where the Isrealite nation has not only been rescued from slavery, and spared the existential consequence of their spiritual violation, but given the Mishkan (Tent of Divine Meeting) a physical space of absolute presence from the Creator of the Universe, blessed be the ONE.

Take a moment this weekend to bask in that feeling of completion, at least momentarily. We have come to the end of Adar, the end of the year of kings and festivals, and the end of the book of Sh’mot (Exodus). Bask in the joy of Moses and the entire people as Moses finished building the Mishkan and the divine inhabited a space so fully even he couldn’t enter - proof that the process of forgiveness not only works — but brings you to a higher and clearer place then where you started.

So before you dive into the new moon of Nissan (Saturday night/Sunday) with its powerful lights of miracles and redemption, and before you start cleaning out all the puffed up places (chametz) in yourself and your home, just breathe in all the wonder that has been achieved in your life and this nation. No matter what went down this year, allow a sense of completion to fill you as transition into the energy of overt miracles.

PS. — hot tip for those interested in moving out of the world of pain and suffering into the world of growth through joy…. this new moon on Saturday night and Sunday are the ideal time to PRAY FOR TRUE JEWISH LEADERSHIP – and I don’t mean political - I mean righteous leaders that are able to redirect our power and focus on the one true force in the universe that got us out of Egypt, and keeps us alive, and enlivens the world. Whatever you understand “the deliverer” to be… this new moon is the time to pray for him/her/them.
