Shelach
THE BIG IDEA
Because two different torah energies are circulating in the world right now - (Ba’halotcha is being read outside the land of Israel and Shelach being read inside the land of Israel) - it’s a good time to consider the energetic overlap of these two chapters of spiritual narrative– namely– the way we speak matters.
At the end of Ba’halotcha it was speech and a slightly distorted way of seeing that got Miriam in trouble and forced her out of the encampment for 7 days - in Shelach, the bad speech and bad eyes of the 10 tribal leaders (spies) cost an entire generation the ability to enter the land.
This Shabbat is an excellent time to examine the way we see a situation, the way we communicate what we see, and most of all- the way we internalize the doubts and fears of others unconsciously. Notice the ways seeing, speaking and listening effects your personal relationship with the divine. Cultivate the eyes with which you are able to see what is important - the kedusha of the Land of Israel.
