THE BIG IDEA

Of all the ideas I have heard about apparent genecidal spiritual imperative to ‘remember and never forget to eradicate Amalek from the earth’ - the one that appeals to me most, even on the brink of outright war, is that it is only when the Jewish people completely remove doubt from ourselves and see/trust God’s presence in every moment - there will be no longer be the need for Amalek to exist. They will, in a sense, self destruct. 

The commandment to kill can be understood as killing an internal state of doubt.

And while the threat of a regime of terror pointing ballistic missiles at Israel is very literal - perhaps it is actually something that can and must be solved from within. To find faith not only in the All Mighty One Force in the Universe, but to completely trust and believe that your internal state impacts the external reality. Of course for the spiritual experiment to work every member of the Jewish Nation would have to believe it…. 

Wishing everyone a Purim and beyond— may we all see the presence of the divine everywhere and in everything - and live in the joy of that deep inner trust and knowing.
