THE BIG IDEA

If you are the kind of person that likes to prepare - this month’s energy is going to be good for you. This is the time of the year that we prepare to stand before the King of Kings on the Day of Judgement. Take time this week to look at your life actions and refine, strengthen and adjust places you have neglected.

If you are looking for ideas about places to work on - try reading the chapters around Judges and see what comes up. This week focuses us on practical ethical system of co-existence with a nation of flawed former slaves with an inclination to sin (all of us).

As this is also a time of gathering prayers - I will direct everyone to the part where the Torah predicts the thoughts, responses and minds of we moderns -of course you will see the other nation’s political and social leadership and want to be exactly like them. 

I have always been of the mind that the coolest government in the world would travel with an entire security detail for it’s spiritual text (the torah). That the torah would be read in its appropriate times, meetings would be scheduled around it, and when the leader would go to a gala or dinner or event, the sefer torah would precede him. But maybe that’s just me…. and the Torah’s instructions…

All I know is that in this messed up mixed up, lost, warring, hate filled world and I see a nation that has the tools to be different and yet so desperately wants to be seen as the same.

Take this week to consider the ethical demands on our nation - and do your best to be a member that is refining him/her self. And then beg that we have spiritual and political leadership that can be trusted to be doing the same.
