In the Wilderness

THE BIG IDEA

Every year, the Shabbat before Shavuot, without fail, we read the parsha of Bamidbar. 

Narratively, I gotta admit, it is a little dry, spending a lot of time naming and counting the 600,000+ souls brought out of slavery and into the wildnerness. But that’s kinda how it is when each and every person counts. And this is the most essential time of the year to know on the deepest of levels that both you, and every member of the Nation of Israel counts.

So do your best this Shabbat to take yourself there, to really take yourself there. Feel yourself and your family at the base of Mount Sinai. Feel the power of the coming energy of Shavuot and the gift of a cycle of Torah on it’s way. Perpare to ground the freedom that came with Passover, into another cycle of productive spiritual focus.  And if you don’t yet feel it, pray you do - I promise it’s light from another world.

And don’t worry if you don’t feel ready… you have 6 days to prepare!
