Crossing Over

THE BIG IDEA

According to the Torah Omens this weekend is a favorable time to truly liberate yourself from any toxic thoughts, feelings, behaviors or people that chase you.

Take advantage of the spiritual rebirthing energy that reverberates across the universe this Thursday night. The 7th night of Passover marks the splitting of the Red Sea, and carries an intensity that comes once a year. Use this powerful opening to wash away the oppressive inclinations that haunt you.

The Torah Omens furthers the energetic potential of the entire Exodus process this Shabbat by bringing our attention to the mysterious goat ritual and spiritual cleansing process of Yom Kippur that Aaron received after the death of his two first born sons.

This yearly purification practice ensures that the deep cosmic freedom from the innermost realms of slavery achieved on Passover are maintained throughout the entire spiritual year.

SOMATIC EXCERCISE

Spiritual Rebirthing Exercise

Take some time on Thursday night to imagine yourself trapped at the water’s edge with your enemy chasing after you, ready to kill.

Your enemy might be a toxic behavior or person in your life, or an entire lifestyle that doesn’t serve your highest self. Whatever it is, do your best to identify that thing, thought pattern, person, or self destructive tendency.

Imagine yourself in a desert moving away from it, until you suddenly becoming aware that it is still chasing you. Keep moving away from it until you reach the water’s edge.

Allow yourself to face the feeling of being trapped. Unable to turn back or go forward, like a baby ready to come out that starts pushing against the too small opening.

Feel the impossibility to stay where you are, with absolutely nothing available to you other than forward movement or death.

And then, when you are ready, close your eyes, breathe in deeply, and allow yourself to really sink into that feeling. Allow your fears to surface.  Really feel them.

Call out to the divine force of the universe to ask for help, to part the sea, to offer safe passage.

And then, all at once, imagine the sea (or birthing passage) open for you, and imagine yourself crossing through, with the toxic person or behavior or unwanted thoughts of your past washed way, unable to reach you again.

Welcome yourself to your future and find your song.

Believe this change is final, and that you are able to greet the world like a new born.
